Caves of Laugarvatn

Until 1922 a few families were known to live in caves across Iceland. At the heart of the Golden Circle, you will find two such caves, built around the year 700 AD by Irish monks – now renovated to depict life a century ago during its final occupation. Stop by for a 20-30 minute guided tour, filled with fascinating stories.
