GET WET

Even if you visit Iceland in winter you need to take your swimsuit with you. I go to the swimming pool every morning when I’m at home in Reykjavík and when traveling I try to squeeze in a trip to the local pool, or a nearby hot spring, or even sea dipping, into my traveling schedule. It´s not only refreshing, but it’s also where you meet the locals–and don’t hesitate to ask away! That’s what I do to find new interesting spots around the country.

TAKE A HIKE

Don´t get me wrong, I love driving around the country in my 50+ year old mini wan and visit all my HandPicked places, and discovering new ones. But when I’m not doing that I just love going with a group of good friends hiking. Once every summer me and 15 ladies go for 4-5 days hiking in the wild. For the last ten years we’ve had amazing exprienses, covered lots of grounds, have had so much fun and still not done. Everywhere you go in the Iceland countryside there is a beautiful hike to be found other than the main tourist attractions. So take with you or invest in good hiking boots and enjoy the silence and solitude and return recharged and grounded!
