East Iceland

East Iceland has the country’s largest forest, lush farmlands, and many natural harbors with fishing villages. The East is the only region of the country where reindeer reside. Approximately 80% of Iceland is highlands and wilderness, making it one of the least densely populated nations in Europe. In this quarter of the country, there are around 7,000 reindeer and almost 11,000 residents.
